WabiSabi does more than sustain community health and vibrancy; it also supports these same qualities in individuals. Through food. WabiSabi’s Hands Up program provides eight meals a year – including Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners and six Sunday brunches in Jan and Feb – to the community free of charge. WabiSabi’s ongoing commitment to the community doesn’t just come in the form of dollars. We also offer workshops in an effort to directly improve our quality of life in Moab. Workshops are intended to build skills, promote cultural awareness, and introduce alternative and environmentally sensitive practices to the community as a whole. Past workshop topics have covered the spectrum from alternative building practices, native plant identification and feng shui, to bike repair, financial planning, cross-cultural cooking and more. WabiSabi operates two thrift stores plus a recycled building material store, all located in downtown Moab. These stores offer quality clothing, accessories, household items, furniture, books, and toys at great prices. And the sale of these items supports area nonprofit organizations. You get great stuff at a great price while our community nonprofits thrive and make Moab a better place to live. Both stores are open seven days a week.

The WabiSabi Nonprofit Network exists to help local organizations and individuals more effectively meet the needs of our community. The network strengthens the presence of nonprofits in our area, educates the public on the value of these organizations, enhances member groups’ effectiveness, and encourages networking. What in the world did Moab do with all its stuff before WabiSabi came on the scene?! Each year, we take in approximately 350 tons worth of donations that would otherwise end up in the landfill. WabiSabi excels at finding beauty in imperfection, and its Kid’s Art Tent teaches new generations how to do the same. The traveling tent offers up numerous arts and crafts projects for children at festivals throughout the region, turning community discards into collaborative art.
